Deal of the Day: Hayden-Harnett Quorra Crossbody

If you missed Hayden-Harnett's sample sale a few weeks ago, you have another chance to score a deal on a handbag and other leather goods. Lots of goods are 50-70% off in-store and online.

I bought the Quorra crossbody bag for $109, which I already thought as a deal at the time, but now it's only $62 (retail 248)! I would probably be more upset if it'd be sitting in my closet for the past few weeks, but I've actually been wearing it almost everyday. I love small crossbody bags; they're so convenient and great for going out.

The bag is a little stiff and the silver living doesn't hold up that well against scratches, but overall the bag is well made with quality leather. It fits all the basics with a little stacking - wallet, iPhone, work Blackberry, Canon point & shoot camera, keys, etc, chapstick, pens. A recommended purchase for those looking for a small structured bag.

Sample Sale Report: Hayden-Harnett

Hayden-Harnett is having an incredible sale online and in-store. I stopped in the Greenpoint flagship last night expecting to leave with something since they are one of my favorite Brooklyn labels, but I kind of surprised myself when I left with two tops, a skirt and crossbody bag. But seriously, I don't feel guilty because everything was seriously discounted. If you're a Hayden-Harnett fan, this sale is a must!

Bags and leather goods were 50-70% off; many on the 70% off end. Small leather goods and bags were all under $100 - lots of small crossbody bags and drawstring bucket bags. Larger bags, which usually sell for $360-$500, are currently on sale for $150-$300. Hayden-Harnett bags are really well made. I bought my first Hayden-Harnett bag over three years ago, and it's still going strong.
Clothes were also seriously discounted! Silk dresses, that usually sell for $248, are on sale for $50. Tops and bottoms were only $25. I took home a beautiful wool-silk skirt that retails for $300+. Bananas, I tell you! There was also a bin of swimwear, mostly size XS and M - all on sale for $20 a suit.

If you're in north Brooklyn this weekend, definitely stop by the shop in Greenpoint. It's adorable and the merchandise is all neatly laid out. There unfortunately is only one fitting room, but the music is good and the staff is really nice. And if you're not in NYC, don't worry. Gen Art Shop NYC 2009

Last week I attended my second Gen Art Shop NYC. This year's event felt more like a trade show compared to last year.
The models were breaking down right as I got there, so I was only able to snap a shot of the menswear. I was really bummed because I saw some pretty amazing evening wear gowns and avant garde pieces.

I was really into the accessories at this year's Shop NYC. Sugar Rock Catwalk favorite, Hayden-Harnett was there with their amazing collection of handbags and leather goods.
Will you look at those studs and geometric designs? Love! I anxiously await the day when I have enough money saved up to get a second Hayden-Harnett bag.

New for me, but something that's been on Erin's radar for while, Gemma Redux was one of my favorite finds of the night. This line by Rachel Dooley embodies everything I look for in jewelry - bold, unique, colorful, and feminine without being dainty. Her pieces achieve the perfect balance of sophistication and edge, using beautiful natural stones and mixed metal chains.
My friend Katherine and I tried on (and played with) the Omne, which is one of Gemma Redux's most versatile pieces. It also happens to be one of the most affordable pieces as well, ranging from $98 to $158. There's a magnetic piece inside the web of chains, so you can wear the piece in different ways and various lengths. If you think about it and do the math, the Omne is kind of a deal.


My other favorite accessory find of the night was B-side by Ken and Dana Design. I literally stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the display of rings. I'm totally obsessed with chunky jewelry and knuckle rings, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw these!
They also had some great earrings and necklaces. My friend Katherine bought the necklace on the left. If you're looking for a geometric statement piece, B-side is definitely worth checking out.

My favorite apparel line at Gen Art was Sally Tseng. The collection was young, modern and sleek. My favorite pieces from Sally's line were her menswear inspired shirts and jackets - really nice cuts and tailoring.
This is Sally, wearing her own pieces including the amazing Ellington Tailcoat. The tail in the back is removable; 2 in 1!

Isn't she so cute?! She's a young designer, but her line has already been out for five years and some of her pieces have been worn by celebs like Charlize Theron. Quite impressive!
Here are a few of the pieces that I liked. I ended up buying a peach-nude version of the silk buttondown on the left and the two-toned oxford shirt below. I felt so guilty for wanting both, but my friend Katherine agreed they were both good finds, fun and versatile.

Overall, Gen Art Shop NYC was a great event, and I'm really glad I went because I'm not sure I would have found some of these other designers otherwise.

Sample Sale Report: Hayden-Harnett

Stopped by the Hayden-Harnett Sale after work today and it was a ghost town. Pretty wiped out. Only about 10 wallets left for around $50-75 each. 5 Ipod cases that were $15 each! A couple glasses cases at $10 each. 10 Wristlets that ranged from $50-60. There were about 20 bags left in varied styles, I saw a damaged one for $100 but for most part the bags that were left were at least $175-250. Damaged items were clearly marked with what was wrong so you could fairly access the goods.

No clothes or shoes left at all.

The only possible ray of light is that there is the slight possibility of a new shipment tomorrow! The girl who worked there said one was supposed to come, then was cancelled then back on again but she's not even sure what's going to be in it!

I'd recommend online instead for this sale, although the online merch is different for most part than what was at the sale.
