Bauble Bar Pop-Up Shop in Soho

2013-06-20 19.16.36
Have you been to Bauble Bar's pop-up shop in Soho yet? Before wedding madness took over I had a chance to stop by last month to take a peep at the online e-tailer's spacious set-up on Greene Street.

Whether you're looking for that great statement necklace or just some every day essential, there's a lot to covet at at the pop-up. If you have questions about buying costume jewelry online, this is your perfect chance if you're in the NYC area to see the goods in person. The pop-up shop will be featuring the same items that are available online through August 13, 2013.

In addition to jewelry, there are a number of fun events happening and the next one features one of our favorite crafty ladies, Jenni Radosevich of I Spy DIY. So if you're around this Wednesday, July 17th, stop by for a chance to DIY with Jenni, sip Godiva cocktails and receive a complimentary leather pouch for attending. Just make sure you RSVP to rsvp@rmo-weatherly.com.

If you can't make the event, the pop-up is open Monday-Saturday 10am-8pm and Sundays 11am-7pm.

Bauble Bar Unwrapped x Bonobos Pop-up Shop

Bauble Bar, the online purveyor of high quality great value costume jewelry has launched a pop-up shop called BaubleBar Unwrapped in the heart of the Meat Packing District and invited Bonobos, online purveyor of men's clothes that really fit well (especially pants!), to join them. So for the next few days the ladies can add some sparkle to their life while them gentlemen can get a chance to get dapper.
BaubleBar Unwrapped has been open since the beginning of February to celebrate of the brand’s two year anniversary since launching and give shoppers an in-person glimpse a huge array of best-selling styles, enjoy hands-on styling sessions and even snag a few presents along the way. There is a present wall where shoppers will each be given a surprise present from BaubleBar (celebrating two years of presence with two weeks of presents!) that could contain anything from free baubles, to discount codes and other special treats including a Grilled Cheese truck!
I had the chance to stop by last night for a party celebrating Bonobos moving in with Valentine's Day inspired drinks, giveaways and a chance to see the merchandise in person. With jewelry since there is only so much you can tell about a product online, it was fun for me to see it in person, and feel the weight and explore what pieces might look like on.
I think my favorite Bauble Bar piece has to be this bejeweled collar which was both striking and well priced at just $44.

Mr. Porter: Pop-Up Shop

A friend of mine came into town this weekend and we decided to check out the Mr. Porter pop-up shop in Meatpacking.  The theme of the shop is titled "Suits and Style" but most of what's available to purchase are accessories, not clothing. Think sunglasses, knitted ties, jewelry and watches - all of which can be paired back with whatever look you choose to sport.

Mr. Porter: Sale and Pop-Up Shop

Mr. Porter's online sale started earlier this week with lots of merch going for up to 50% off.  Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of the site.  Hands down, it's been my fave online retailer ever since launching and blows other online retailers out of the water.  The editorials are amazing, there's tonns of product info including measurements, free shipping/returns and is amazingly curated..

In other Porter news, they are opening up a pop-up shop geared towards suits & style for a week - I can't wait to check it out! The temporary shop opens June 9-17, 2012 at 72 Gansevoort St (b/n Greenwich and Washington St).  12pm-9pm daily.

Inside: Audrey Grace Pop-Up Boutique

IMAG5224
The Audrey Grace pop-up boutique on the High Line is like a sugary cupcake coming to life - it just might be the girliest shopping experience that I've ever had in the best possible way.  Everything is so irresistibly charming and adorable that you want or need it all.

Audrey Grace is a boutique that is actually located in Jackson Mississippi.  It was started by Jaclyn Bethany who travelled the world to source products for her boutique and culled brands from Australia, Thailand, England, France and from the USA.

Coming Soon: Park & Bond Pop Up Shop

WWD announced that Park and Bond will be collaborating with GQ and hosting a pop up shop in the Meatpacking District.  The store is set to open on December 7-18, 2011 at 414 W 14th St and will offer menswear pieces, footwear, watches and gadgets for shoppers.  The store will also house some items hailed as the "best stuff" of the year which is featured in the December edition of GQ.

The pop up shop is set to have different events running each day including a special promo by Amex for its cardholders.

According to John Auerbach - President of Park and Bond, "we have no plans to add bricks-and-mortar".  To me, not to set up permanent shop makes perfect sense since it goes against the online empire Gilt has built up.  Nonetheless, its always nice to see things in person before you buy.

If you really can't wait until the shop opens up, head over to Park and Bond (they're currently having a sale online with select items up to 50%).

Target x Missoni: Pop Up Shop...Epic Fail

For FNO, I remember how hectic SoHo was last year and wanted to stay as far away as possible - so I decided to hit up the Target x Missoni Pop Up shop by Bryant Park. Greeted with a line at 5:45pm that wrapped around from 42nd and 6th to Broadway and 41st - I decided to hold my ground with Erin and stay. Big mistake...

I ended up waiting... and waiting...and waiting (at least Erin and her friend were there to keep me company or else I think I would have literally lost it). After FOUR hours - we finally got in...and shitshow doesn't even begin to describe what was going on inside. Of all the lines at sample sales, restaurants and everything else worth doing in NYC, this was by far the most insane...

The space itself was pretty spacious - but also ransacked from the hundreds of people in front of us and the press preview the day before. Clothing was sparse, menswear pieces were non-existent, and housewares were cleaned up. The venue was initially two floors but by the time we got inside, the upstairs had been closed off since they ran out of stock.

There were a few racks of clothing left which included a cord jacket and some knit skirts - but nothing worth the wait that we endured. From what I did see, the apparel definitely has Missoni's flare and aesthetic - but has Target's quality which is to be expected and should come as no shock.

If you're looking for boxes and some vases, those are still available but will probably be gone by tomorrow.

A lot of shoppers seemed dissapointed with the shortage of merch available given that it was the opening day and seemed to be buying whatever was left - just for the sake of buying something.

While it's not the smartest move (buying for the sake of buying) - I was debating on doing just that since I had already banked 4 hours in line outside. Fortunately, I quickly came to my senses when I noticed the other gargantuan line to pay which quite fittingly, zig zagged across the store since the register area was rammed.

If you're planning on hitting the store tomorrow - forget about it. By the time we left, shelves were left bare and the store won't last till Sunday (I'm not even sure if it will be open tomorrow). You're definitely better off holding out until the collection drops in stores and online.

The countdown begins to September 13th...
