Sample Sale Report: Charlotte Ronson December 2012

I stopped by the Charlotte Ronson sample sale over lunch and while they no longer had $10/15 items I was still impressed with the vast selection of merchandise a $20 bill can snag you. All shoes are $20 along with 3 racks full of clothing.

Sample Sale Report: Charlotte Ronson June 2012

Stopped by the Charlotte Ronson sample sale yesterday evening and found it to be pleasantly empty around 5:30pm.  I had a feeling though that once the after work crowd rolls in at 6:30pm it won’t be as serene.  As per usual the samples are all well indicated with a price tag that clearly denotes the price which maxes out at $100.  As usual there is a cheaper room and the main room with the cash that is slightly higher priced.  This time around though there seem to be a couple less racks of merchandise than usual – although still a varied assortment with sizes ranging from XS-L

There was a small selection of footwear that included a couple pairs of Melissa Plastic dreams for $40-60  with sizes mostly in the 8-10 range.  I also spotted a small selection of envelope clutches for $60 a pop.

Sample Sale Report: Charlotte Ronson

Stopped by the Charlotte Ronson Sample Sale over lunch and minutes after I arrived on the scene the lunch crowd exploded. While it wasn’t too difficult to look, snagging decent pictures became a bit of a challenge as people kept walking into my shot or moving clothes at the last minute.

Despite the crowds the staffers kept their cool and were super friendly as they helped find shoe sizes and return merchandise to the racks. This time around the fitting room was in the bathroom down the hall. From past experience, it can be hard to see yourself in the mirror, so it might be a good idea to bring a friend.

Prices this time around were pretty straightforward for most part they used the color coded dot system that they’ve used at previous sales marking merchandise at $30, $50, $70 and topping out at just $90. Sizes ranged from XS to XL with a heavier concentration of merchandise towards the smaller end of the size spectrum.

The merchandise at this sample sale looked newer than previous sales and save for very few pieces I don’t remember seeing much of it before. I would say that most older merchandise is about $10 less than the previous Save Japan sample sale. This is a taste of some of the items I spotted on the $30 rack. Pretty silk flutter blouse, thermal look top, summery print cotton skirt.

On a table, some of the styles of shoes were laid out for display but staffers have boxes upon boxes in the back room. While the majority of shoes that are left run from sizes 7-9, there are still a few other sizes kicking around. From what I could tell most of the shoes were marked at $50 a pair. Although if you are a size 6, you are are out of luck as that size has pretty much sold out. The same table had various marled cardigans on sale for mostly in the $50 category. I think there was one style that was $30.

The $50 category held some cute pieces like a belted vest, elastic waist zipper shorts, some awesome fluttery floral chiffon shorts, embellished tops and a dress with embellished shoulders I recall from the last sale.

Most of my favorite items were in the $70 category with military cargo jackets and pretty, pretty silk feminine pieces. I loved the scallop detail on the printed shirt dress and the lace shoulders of the silk blouse. These items begged to be bought and worn now.

Outerwear pieces were about the only thing that I spotted in the $90 category. The leather biker jacket on the right in particular was a steal. Although only 3 jackets in size 4-6 were left while I was at the sale whoever snatches them up are lucky women indeed.

There were also some special merchandise items including some adorable Save Japan tees for $15 where 100% will be donated to Japan Earthquake Relief.

There was a basket of Belts for $15 each, a basket of slip dresses for $15 each, 2 baskets of damaged items for $10 a pop and a single pair of sample shoes left going for $25.

Great sale to pick up some breezy, casual cool pieces to wear in this Summer's heat!

Charlotte Ronson x Uniqlo Launch

In case you forgot, Charlotte Ronson’s collaboration with Uniqlo dropped today quietly in Soho and it looked like all 6 styles were still available in multiple colorways.  Sizes were plentiful and although I noticed several people stop an take a double take at the collection but it was by no means bustling. The clothes were not placed at the front of the store, as with Costello Tagliapietra’s launch but closer towards the mid-back section.  The signage was so discreet that at first I walked right past the section without noticing it.  Each piece will retail for $29.99 for a limited time.

My favorite piece in person was the trapeze dress that actually is seamed with separate print fabric to create a unique graphic effect.

As for sizes, if you are a size Large I would go snag up pieces sooner than later as there were only a couple per style left.  However, if you are an XS, Small or Medium there are plenty to choose from.

Sample Sale Report: Charlotte Ronson April 2011

As soon as the work day was done, I headed for Charlotte Ronson’s Sample Sale right by Bryant Park.  I got there about 6:25pm and there were only about 5 other shoppers.  I had plenty of room to maneuver the sale and check out all the goods with ease.  At every Charlotte Ronson Sale, there is the “Cheap Room” where prices didn’t go over $40 and the “Reasonable Room” where prices maxed out at $80.  An with profits going towards Japan (via the Japan Society’s Earthquake Relief Fund) can you really complain?

In terms of clothes sizes ranged from 0-10 or XS-XL but a heavier concentration of the sale product ranged from 0-4 or XS-S.

 

The “Cheap Room” started out with shoes marked at just $20 a pop but unfortunately not too many are left if you are a size 10 though there are a few pairs left in addition to 1 pair of 6 1/2 left.

There is 1 $20 rack of clothing and on it you’ll find a variety of samples like a Save Japan Tee shirt, a denim zip romper, studded jean skirts, stripe knit samples with cut out shoulders I spotted from last sample sale and a denim chambray shirt dress that I bought maybe 3 or 4 sample sales ago.  A few pairs of shorts and some denim skirts with pyramid studs.

The rest of the room was mostly $40 items that made up 3 or so racks of clothing.  You can find fresher items that I don’t remember seeing at previous sales.  You can find a large variety of cotton button up blouses.  Only a couple boyfriend chambray shirts were left and I snagged one.  There is also quite a variety of skirts in feminine summery prints or a statement tulip skirt with a stud happy waistband.  Definitely quite a few pairs of cotton sateen trousers and shorts that were very classic looking in soft pink or washed blue that paired perfectly with blazers I spotted in the $60 section.  Some of my fave pieces were the silk blouses with special details.  I was also partial to the acid-wash grandpa cardigans.

Once you get to the $60 pieces you’ll find some more career oriented pieces like a double breasted shirt dress, boyfriend jacket that pairs back to the $40 pants/shorts and flutter sleeve blouses.

The one item I spotted in the $80 range was this adorable cargo pocket jacket with rope cord detail that was available in this naval blue but also available in khaki.

There were also a couple buckets with slips for $15 and damaged items for $15 but I couldn’t really be bothered to look through it.

As for the change room, they moved back from the restrooms of the last sale into a back room in the office area, so you’ll pass stock and cubicles as staff leads you to their “fitting area”.  It’s a common fitting area but it was not crowded or awkward and there is a large mirror in which you could review your purchases.  There is plenty of room to set your belongings down and I ended up throwing my clothes over a chair while I tried things on.

A great sale if you’re looking for some sweet or classic pieces.
