CFDA You Can't Fake Fashion Totes

Bow tote by Erin Fetherson

The CFDA in partnership with eBay created 79 different totes customized by America's foremost designers to be sold raise awareness, fight counterfeit goods and celebrate original design within the fashion industry. The totes go on sale on March 20, 2012 at 11am ET on Fashion Vault with all proceeds benefiting the CFDA Foundation. It's incredible to see the variety of designs that were created using the same tote bag as a base.  I've pictured a few of my favorites but to see all bags check out the CFDA's facebook album here

Each of the one-of-a-kind totes each customized by CFDA designers  will sell for $200.  If that is too high for your budget there are also four styles of standard totes that you can customize yourself for $45.

Target X Missoni: The Top 5 Greediest Ebayers

When it comes to designer collaborations - there are only two types of people who buy the items, those who actually like/love/want what is up for sales and those who are looking to turn a quick buck. Since launching only a few days ago - ebay listings have skyrocketed and are hovering around 30,000 items...which is pure insanity. I skimmed ebay just to gauge the markups and here's a quick look at my top 5 most ridunculous items up for grabs...

Number 5:

The first seller to make my shortlist is the seller of this tie which starts at $75 with a Buy It Now price of $100. Seriously why do people bother with this.
Amazon.com has a few Missoni ties going for $89 - so why would anyone in their right might opt to buy the collab tie for more? I just don't get it.

Number 4:

A 2 piece luggage set going for $495. Enough said...

Number 3:

This duvet set is going for $600 with a Buy it Now option of $659. Fear not though - the seller has graciously offered free shipping - how kind...

What makes #3's listing so interesting (and by default - the seller a complete tool) is that this item is still available online on Target's website...I even tried to add it to my cart just to check and it worked.

Number 2:

Next up is a bike...which currently has 7 bids so far - and is going for $1,500...I don't know what I find harder to believe - that someone had the audacity to list the bike for that price - or that someone actually bid that much on the bike...

Number 1:

Topping the list is a knitted skirt....going for $5,799 - I did a double take when I saw this just because I simply couldn't believe it...I can't go into details on how disturbingly upsetting this is on so many levels....

Anyways - that pretty much wraps up my ongoing coverage of this Target debaucle. Even though I ended up nabbing everything I was looking for - shitty doesn't even begin to describe the trials and tribulations of the FNO fiasco, the in-store madness and online extravaganza...

Do us all a favor - if you decide not to keep something, please return it to your local Target store instead of trying to make a quick buck...

Preview: Derek Lam for eBay

derek-lam-for-ebay-1

Thanks to Elle.com we get a first look of Derek Lam + eBay exclusive collection to debut on February 16, 2011.  The collection will consist of 16 different looks and features crisp shirt dresses to feminine florals to structured denim to goddess gowns.  Since the collection is set to be at “accessible” price points, I’m hoping that means that the average girl like me can afford it.  Once the collection goes live, the public can vote on which styles they like best and only the best styles will go into production.  Can’t wait to vote and to see more in a few days!

eBay Find: Bliss Lau for $49.99

Deal alert! There are four Bliss Lau pieces going for only $49.99 on eBay with no bids and less than 22 hours to go! Each of these retail for $179-$259 each on blisslau.com.

In case you're not familiar with Bliss' collection, her body jewelry can be worn in multiple ways over (or under) your clothing. It's a great way to add some edge to a silk dress or even just a basic tee. To see some of the pieces in action, here are some photos of the pieces in action from me and Erin.

1. Body of Roses, size medium
I love this piece, beautiful chain and very versatile. Man, I really wish this was in my size. If you're a size medium, do it! It's currently retailing for $315 at Barneys.

2. Art Deco Tuxedo, size small
I love the shape of this piece, but it's a bit dainty for my taste. I personally like the original, non-Art Deco piece better which has a heavier chain.

3. Art Deco Tuxedo, size medium

4. Art Deco Trytich, size large

If you end up getting one of these, please send pictures. I would love to see how you wear them!

Sam Edelman Zoe Boots Are Back!

Sam Edelman Zoe Boots, $345.00

The coveted Sam Edelman "Zoe" boots are being re-released! These boots were inspired (cough, knock off) from Balenciaga's fall 2006 collection and widely associated with Mary-Kate Olsen.

Balenciaga Fall 2006

And since then the boots have popularized thanks for some all star bloggers like Rumi of Fashion Toast, Susie of Style Bubble and Jane of Sea of Shoes. Fall 2006, that's almost three years ago, but these boots are still a hot commodity, selling for $500+ on eBay.

While $345 is still pretty hefty, if you're been eyeing these boots for awhile, it just might be worth it. Nasty Gal, one of my favorite online shops, is currently accepting pre-orders, with a deposit of $10 taken immediately. You can also find them for the same price at Jildor.

Comme On...

Photo via NY Mag

WWD reports:
Large crowds queued up for the launch in Paris, London, Milan, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Manhattan. Shoppers stampeded into stores, but once inside, the scene in several cities seemed slightly more civilized than previous guest designer launches by Karl Lagerfeld, Viktor & Rolf and Roberto Cavalli.

Surprisingly there are reports that Comme Des Garcons for H&M is still available in NYC, especially at the 51st St & 5th Avenue Flagship location.

With CDG for H&M only launching in 8 US locations, with 3 in Manhattan alone, the label has found it's way onto ebay with inflated prices to boot. The biggest ticket item right now is $700 for the ruffle dress which sold out within 5 minutes in NYC. I think that the dress (orinally $350) is a great signature piece, but H&M for $700? At twice the price, doesn't this seem a bit criminal? I really hope that no one buys from that seller!
