Target x Odin: Finally - One Just For The Guys

Earlier this week, Target released the look book images for the upcoming collaboration with menswear store ODIN.  The collection looks very ODIN-esque and has some great knit pieces, slim-fitting slacks, outerwear, desert boots, and a utility duffel.  With every item coming in at under $100, the collection is easy on the eyes and pocket.  The collection drops September 9, 2012 at Target (in stores and online) as well as ODIN if you're located here in the city.  Can't wait! Sample Sale Report: Richard Chai–July 2011

If you missed Richard Chai’s sample sale back in March fear not because now you have your chance to redeem yourself and snag some beautiful clothes at a significant discount. The sale when I stopped by around 6:30pm wasn’t too crowded and I had plenty of room to navigate the store, Odin (Chai’s brother Eddy’s store), which had been transformed to house the merchandise. Everything was super neat and organized and staffers were friendly. Since this is in a boutique, you have the added bonus of fitting rooms, unfortunately there are only 2 so you may have to wait your turn. Fortunately they are equipped with large mirrors.

For womenswear pricing was very similar if not the same to the last sample sale. Since Richard Chai’s Love collection is where my budget lies and due to my limited time, I spent most of my time looking at that particular line of merchandise and as far as I can tell pricing was exactly the same. $50 for tops & skirts, $85 for pants, $90 for dresses and topping out at around $150 for outerwear. While some of the merch was identical from the last sale there was definitely some new items thrown into the mix.

I also caught a glimpse of what they dubbed the “Drew Barrymore Sequin Top” priced at just $50. While the version Drew wore was a long sleeve, the version at the sale was a short sleeve – still very cute and great for a night out.

As for the main line tops and skirts are $120. The real deal is the leather pants/skirts at just $100 a pop and leather jackets for $150! I think I was too distracted to notice there were shoes at the sale, but now I’m starting to think that I want to make a second trip back although it would most certainly destroy my clothing budget. Dresses are $200 and I spotted this beautiful silk printed dress from the last sale again. Prices max out at $450 for shearling, of which I only spotted 2 or 3 of.

As for menswear pricing was pretty similar to the last round according to Jeff. Men’s Shorts $50, Men’s Shirts $75, Men’s Sweaters $85, Men’s Tank $35, Jackets $157/$175 (?). There was some awesome men’s invisible striped knit that totally caught Jeff’s attention. Unfortunately as he did not have any sizes available, I decided to scoop up a sweater for myself. I think the sheer stripes will look great in the summer thrown over cut off shorts or a dress for a breezy look.

Richard Chai Japan T

Following in pursuit of other designers to help raise funds for Japan, Richard Chai launched a "Love" T-shirt last weekend to help raise funds for disaster relief. 100% of the profit will be donated to the cause which is amazing.

There is a T and tank up for sale - both with the word "love" silk-screened on. The L is actually written out in kanji and means love in Japanese. Both retail for $35.

The shirts are available online at Odin or in their stores. I picked one up after work this week since I was in the area anyways and its a great T for just lounging around in and is super soft. The shirts are made by Alternative Apparel (which by the way does great basic and burnout Ts if you're in the market for those).

Sample Sale Report: Odin & Pas de Deux

Last night I had a bit of time to spare before heading over to the Varli food festival (post to follow shortly!). While the space is fairly small, it wasn't too packed when I arrived so there was room to peruse and look around without bumping into people.

There are two racks of womens wear and some shoes by the entrance. Menswear definitely dominates this sale which is a welcome change for me! There are about 8 racks of menswear - one for shorts, a couple for jackets/outerwear, a few for button down shirts and a couple for pants.

Casual shirts are dominated by plaid and include pieces by Edward (Odin x Duckie Brown collab), Richard Chai, Burkman Bros, Wings + Horns and Shipley & Halmos. Prices range from $59-$89. Sizing is a bit random but they do have some smaller cut pieces including XS and some XL. I was debating on the above denim shirt but opted not to - there was a bit too much sheen on this piece for me and my closet is beginning to explode...again...

Outerwear is reasonably priced and tops out at about $200 for wool coats. I saw a couple pieces that I liked but am so sick of winter I couldn't bring myself to buy anything else for cold weather. Labels for outerwear included Rag and Bone, Philip Lim, Edward and Richard Chai. In terms of pants, mostly smaller sizes are left but there's still some range. Shorts mostly came in 30 or 36 with a few other sizes scattered in the mix.

There were a few pairs of Rachel Comey and Floresheim by Duckie Brown brogue shoes but not much stock is left. There were also a couple of bargain bins - $10 Cheap Monday jeans and $15 tops. I was in a bit of a rush so I didn't get a chance to look closely.

I actually stumbled on this sale last weekend by accident and picked up this Richard Chai brushed cotton cropped blazer with rounded collar for $129. I was a bit saddened to see the price slashed to $89 yesterday, but I've been wearing it everyday this week and love it so I don't feel too bad (they also ran out of my size which helped me breathe a sigh of relief).
