DIY: Watch It Fit
A couple weeks ago I went to the Gucci Sample Sale. I woke up extra early on the second day of sales, braved the lines, and in the end I got this little watch for over 80% off retail value. It's actually a men's watch but I liked the chunkier proportions on my wrist.
Dilemna? As it was a men's watch it was a little bit big for my wrist. I wanted to wear my watch right away so I didn't want to bother taking it to a jewler/watch store. I figured it couldn't hurt to try to adjust the strap myself.
So I located the arrows on the watch strap.
Used a pen/push pin to poke out the spoke from the farthest point to where I wanted to adjust the watch to and pressed against a flat surface. Pushing the pen/pin into the arrow.
I removed the 2 thin metal pins to take out the portion I didn't need, while being very careful not to loose the pieces.
I matched the metal watch strap up
Then I took the pin and placed it back into the watch the same way that it originally came out. Fat end of the pin away from the arrows.
I used a hard flat surface to push the pin back in. (Actually a hand cream jar). Repeat on the other side.
Voila! A watch that fits!

NY Sample Sale Report

We stopped by yesterday. Lots of inventory, well-organized, and not too crazy. Delman heels were $90 and up, and most boots were $200. Size 6.5 samples were $49. They also had Nina shoes and Nina Dolls for sale, $50 and $20 for all pairs respectively. If you signed up for the Delman mailing list on your way out, you got an extra $5 off your purchase.

With the sale ending today, prices were reduced. A decent L.A.M.B. purse was $120 and wallets are about $50. Jill Stuart pieces were $80-$120. All Harajuku Lovers was $30 or under. Kid Robot bags and totes were 2-for-1 at $45-$80.

We tried to stop by the sale to check out reduced prices on timepieces from Gucci and The Bedat & Co, but the line was half an avenue long as of 8:50 AM. People at the front said they were there since 8 and still waiting. Apparently you can get two watches for $300.

iWant Gucci Indy Bag
Isn't it gorgeous? Meet Gucci's Indy bag. The Indy bag is available in a variety of textures, including leather, velvet, and snake skin. My personal favorite is the patent leather as shown above.
While shopping on 5th Avenue, Erin and I spotted this bag on Brandi, who works at The CW. The shine of the patent leather and substantial metal hardware caught our attention, not to mention the unique shape. She was kind enough (and very excited) to show us her brand new bag. Up close, the bag was even more incredible! Lots of stunning details - tiny studs, suede tassels, and and a smooth handle.
With the basic Indy retailing at $2695, who knows when or if I'll ever be able to afford this bag, but Brandi made a good point. Some people spend just as much on electronics, which will be outdated in just a few years. While a handbag won't last forever, with care a good designer bag can be passed on for generations.
