Obama Is Our President

In spirit of President Obama officially taking office, here's a sweet video to Adam Freeland's remix of Daft Punk's "Aerodynamic". Super fun, super cute. After watching, you'll probably feel happy and the need to buy some designer toys.

Dressing Up & Voting With Zac Posen

Zac Posen is inviting you to join him in dressing up to cast your ballot for Obama-Biden. Send Zac your picture and he'l post it up at fashionthevote.org. You can upload it through the site or email it to zac@fashionthevote.org.

It is important to note that some states have laws against campaign paraphernalia within "a 100-foot radial measured from the entrances of the voting booth," meaning you won't lose your right to vote, but you will have to hide your Obama gear.

Final Presidential Debate vs Project Runway Finale

Was anyone else surprised slash annoyed that the Project Runway Season 5 finale aired at the same time as the final Presidential Debate? Plus, doesn't Project Runway tradition usually calls for a reunion special in between Part I and Part II of the season finale? There's been some talk in the blogosphere about Bravo trying to sabotage this season of Project Runway after losing the show to Lifetime. But now, the move to Lifetime may be blocked by NBC Universal, the owners of Bravo. You can read all about it at nytimes.com.

If you were watching the debate and missed the Project Runway finale, you can view the collections on bravotv.com, but personally, I think nymag.com has a better gallery. Their pictures are larger, crisper, and head-to-toe shots.

Leanne's collection overall was my favorite. It would have been nice to see something other than petals, but it as consistent and beautiful. I loved how each of her pieces had lots of intricate detailing, yet looked effortless and simple. At the start of the season, she seemed like a Built by Wendy, indie casual wear, but by the end of the season, she was creating elegant evening wear and sophisticated silhouettes.

I loved individual dresses from Kenley's collection more than some from Leanne. I was in awe of her quirky and meticulous use of colors, feathers, and patterns, but the collection wasn't as cohesive as the other two and some of the dresses were too stiff.

I was rooting for Korto earlier in the season, but I think she does best with challenges outside of her element. Let to do exactly what she wants, she trends to over design and use satin fabrics. By the way, did anyone notice that she used Danielle "Dani" Evans from America's Next Top Model?

The National Loves Obama

Artist: The National
Recommended If You Like: My Morning Jacket, British Sea Power, R.E.M, Interpol

In spirit of tonight's debates, I'm wearing an Obama "Mr. November" t-shirt. I love this shirt for obvious reasons and because it's a smile to my fellow music nerds. "Mr. November" is a song from one of my favorite bands, The National.

A brooklyn-based indie band, The National won me over back in 2005 when their album Alligator hit college radio. I love their sound, mellow yet powerful and dark yet warm.

They're playing in Cincinnati, Ohio tomorrow for Vote-Ohio.net and will be in Brazil later this month. They're an amazing live band, so if you ever get the chance to see them, do it. I leave you with the video for "Mistaken For Strangers", a track off their most recent release, Boxer.

Runway to Change

Finally, with just four weeks until Election Day, the designer collaborations for Obama are here. There are shirts and accessories from list of big designers, including Diane von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Vera Wang, Zac Posen, and Tracy Reese.

I say this respectfully, some of the designs were a bit disappointing, but there were a few pieces that I would consider buying to support Obama and add to my memorabilia collection.

Charles Nolan's Change is Good Wrap Shirt

Rachel Roy's Be the Change Scarf

Rag and Bone's Change is Awesome Tote Bag

For Tonight's VP Debate

Tonight's Vice Presidential Debate airs at 9:00 PM EST/6:00 PM PST. Usually, the VP Debate is a quiet event, but this year's debate between candidates Joe Biden and Sarah Palin is expected to have higher ratings than last week's Presidential Debate.

Go to palinbingo.com and print out game cards for VP Debate Party guests. This game is especially hilarious now that Sarah Palin has become notorious for using keywords when she can't answer a question.
