Kamali Kulture by Norma Kamali
Recently I had the chance to meet with Norma Kamali to discuss her Kamali Kulture collection, blogging and self confidence. I was a little nervous meeting someone who is a bit of a design legend. Add to that the fact that I admire her style and own a few pieces that from her past collaborations with Everlast and Walmart and my nerves are floating around my stomach. While sitting in her Wellness Cafe and sipping on some delicious fresh pressed green juice, Ms Kamali enters the room and grabs a Chia Seed snack. She introduces herself and quickly explains that travelling between 3 time zones has her starving as she gently takes a few bites.
Almost like an old friend she talks about her filming experience on VH1 and how amazing the women were who personalized and styled pieces wearing them in totally new and chic ways. She shares how she was most impressed by a young lady who took a top and turned it into pants by putting her legs through the sleeves and letting it create a unique drop crotch effect. As she chats with me I quietly notice that somehow age hasn't affected her virtually lineless face and super shiny head of hair.

Wellness: Norma Kamali Cafe
A couple weeks ago, I attended an event with acupuncturist and spiritual counselor Abdi Assadi. Hearing him speak made me feel guilty about my stressful lifestyle, which was a nice reminder to take better care of myself. He spoke a lot about how stress is almost always rooted in ego, and he shared some helpful tips for calming the mind. He suggested taking five minutes a day to plant your feet on the ground, feel your hands and breath from your stomach rather than your chest. Most of us are shallow chest breathers.
From the event, I picked up a small bottle of olive oil and bar of soap. I won't lie; I was a bit skeptical. I wasn't sure a clothing designer had any business selling olive oil. Turns out Norma Kamali is quite the expert! Every season she picks a new harvest from different orchards. Having used the olive oil for a handful of meals over the past couple weeks, I have to say I'm totally in love! The best olive oil I've ever had. It made every dish taste better. Look for Less: The Maxi Dress
I’ve mentioned previously, long jersey skirts/dresses, are the next must-have item that have quietly snuck onto the runways and now ready for your closet. I got a reminder last week when I was looking at The Magazine on Net-a-Porter and they were talking about "Great Lengths". I have to concur that the slim maxi length is definitely going to be huge this fall. Fortunately this is a relatively easy and affordable look to achieve. Even at the higher end of the spectrum this T by Alexander Wang dress will only cost you $105.
If the T by Alexander Wang maxi however is not in your budget you could always thank Ms Norma Kamail for creating a similar jersey body with a slightly more open neckline that will not break the bank at an even $20.
Super basic, the maxi dress looks great with booties, faux fur gilets, a great belt and of course with this fall’s aviator jackets. It’s the perfect throw-on staple that will have you not only feeling comfortable but also hopefully looking tall and elegant too. The only pitfalls of this look could be possible Visible Panty Line and making sure that awkward lumps and bumps are smoothed out. I would make sure that you pick up the correct size to prevent the dress from clinging too much to the stomach and making sure that appropriate undergarments are worn to achieve a smooth silhouette. Try Before You Buy: Norma Kamali Swim Sample Sale
T.B.Y.B. "Try before you buy." If you order from normakamali.com and agree to the terms, you will have 48 hours to try on the swimsuit and make a selection.
All of the swimsuits included in the panic print, a few in white and almost all in yellow. Prices range from $18-$85. While there are some awesomely crazy one pieces on the site, I don't think I would feel comfortable in them given my non-model proportions. Shopping for myself, I'd probably go with one of the more basic one pieces ($65) or bikini separates ($18 each),

Norma Kamali for Walmart All-In-One Top Review
How Can I Wear Thee? Let me count the ways! Given my limited wardrobe space, I always get excited by product that can rock some extra milage! I almost forgot all about the Norma Kamali for Walmart Collab, but my roommate reminded me and I logged on! The Walmart website is not particularly user friendly and they did not do a great job promoting how wonderfully versatile this piece is! It would be perfect for travelling as it doesn't really wrinkle and can look drastically different.
The top itself is very comfy and looks really baggy if you don't push up the sleeves. It's a poly blend jersey that feels soft, cool to the touch and stretchy. It's long enough to wear with most cuts of pants and roomy through the stomach area :)
The price was right at $20 so I thought I'd try it out, also shipping on Walmart is only 97 cents per item and it came super fast in only 2 days! However the down side is it came with absolutely no instructions for different ways to wear it. Fortunately I took some time to play with it and came up with these variations and thought I'd share :) Perhaps there are more looks, but this is what I came up with so far!
