Summer heat sort of has a way of destroying any ambition of making myself useful. I struggle against the sun, humidity and disgusting heat that radiates from the subway. My only escape is to throw on some lightweight wovens in natural materials and hope for the best. Although I failed to do laundry, clean my room, grocery shop, blog like a madwoman or sketch, I did have a chance to take some long overdue photos with our talented friend James S. Rand. Afterwards unsurprisingly, I found energy enough to shop and snagged some great ankle boots at Scoop as they were an additional 50% off the sale price! Definitely worth checking out :)

Over the weekend I had a chance to drop in on Move! at MoMA PS1 and had a chance to get my hair done by some lovely ladies at the Cheryl/American Apparel "The Makeover You Never Knew You Wanted". They made my hair pretty crazy amazing, it made me feel like it helped me channel my inner couture diva self. It also made me think that I want to be Cruella De Ville for Halloween next year!
I've been trying to lighten up the load on my shoulder's by wanting to try out a smaller purse. Lo and behold, while at her Spring preview event last week, New York City based handbag designer Katherine Kwei so graciously bestowed all the bloggers in attendance with the amazing Donna Sling Bag. Super lightweight, unique and a great size for the bare essentials -I've been toting it around ever since the weekend. What do you think of it? Adorable right?

Gold Rush in Marrakesh

Our lovely friend Yinka Ajakaiye snapped these photos for us a few months back and I've been meaning to post them for the longest time but it kept slipping off my radar.
Still incorporating metallic for our Heavy Metal shoot we created a more ethnic inspired story that relied heavily on gold and some draped vintage finds. The gold paired with neutrals and jewel tones is reminiscent of the colors you might find at the Souks (Markets) of Marrakesh!

It's Superbowl Sunday! I know nothing of football but I love the food and the excuse to hang out with friends watch halftime and be amused by the shiny pants the player wear! Well today I decided that since football inspired fashion has been trending (ala Alexander Wang & Alexandre Herchcovitch) I would do the best that I could using clothes that I had in my closet to create a football inspired look including braided hair.

Holiday Tinsel
We shot this a few weeks ago before we got caught up in a Holiday whirlwind with our good friend, the lovely, Yinka Ajakaiye.
It's part of our new photoshoot series, Heavy Metal. Basically, we noticed one of the biggest growing trends in recent history has been metallic heavy, but not over the top gilded, kept modern by simple/classic shapes and made edgy with graphic, geometric detailing. We scoured our closets to see what we could come up with for a Holiday look.
Given the cold weather it was our first attempt at an indoor "studio" shoot! Hope you enjoy!

It's so interesting how one can grow up in a city yet still discover new things every trip back home. This time I had a chance to explore Liberty Village, a historic district in the west end of Toronto. It was windy and cold and many shops were closed for the day but I can't wait for another visit next summer. Special thanks to my friend Jeff for the great photos from this day!

Diamond Cut Out Leggings - DIY Rodarte, Check out how on SixSixSick.
The DIY Leggings was definitely time consuming I'm quite happy with the results. Tracing was the most annoying step. The easiest way I found to cut is to fold each row of diamonds in the center and cut 2 sides of diamond at the same time. As long as you have sharp scissors each diamond only takes 2 swift snips. Don't worry if your diamonds aren't perfect because they get distorted when you wear them anyways.
