I love holidays because they give me an excuse to dress up. Giant flower headband was in full effect Easter Sunday! I wore this outfit with black leggings and purple flats.

On Sunday, I watched Bill Cunningham New York for the second time and I entered KLM's contest for a trip to Holland for six-day bike tour. You can see my outfit in action and return of the mini hat in my entry video below.

Hope that you had a Happy Easter! Every Easter I wake up and think that I want to dress like Spring and wear bright and happy colors. Easter for me is a celebration of life. Flowers feel like a fresh start and a new beginning. So I started the day wearing my most flowery outfit, little did I know that I would soon find myself surrounded by flowers too at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens eating a hamburger off the grill and admiring the tulips and looking in anticipation at the Cherry Blossom trees that have yet to bloom. Unfortunately, although I was remembering life today, I also got distracted by it and I forgot it was not only Easter but my mother’s birthday and I didn’t really get a chance to celebrate how wonderful she is. Sorry Mom! Thankfully she forgave me and loves me anyways!

Over the weekend, I celebrated Easter with my friends Camille, Micah and co. We decorated eggs, listened to music and enjoyed a lovely dinner.
In the spirit of the holiday, I decided to wear my semi-ridiculous headpiece from Forever 21. The flower is so fun; it's made with pink and gold zipper trim and gigantic!

Happy Easter! Hope that you all had a fab day soaking in the sunshine and perhaps a good meal in your belly with those you love. Today, I had a chance to reflect a little and hang out with my NYC family, Nicole and grab a relaxed Sunday morning brunch.

Easter makes me think of Spring flowers, happy colors and a bonnet is a must. With these requirements in mind, I ended up with a very 80s (perhaps early 90s) Easter outfit. Nicole ended up coordinating with me and it made for some fun photo ops! Just call me Blossom and her Six LeMeure!

NYC Easter Parade & Bonnet Festival

So glad that spring is finally here! If you're around this Sunday you can celebrate at the Easter Parade & Bonnet Festival! New Yorkers embrace Spring by donning Easter attire and their wackiest hats! Some people even dress up their pets...actually not that shocking ;). I've never experienced it so I'm not sure what it's like, but I imagine it to be a fun time! Actually my roommate was telling me that she saw it in an old movie Judy Garland and didn't know that people actually still did it today! The tradition dates back to the 1800s so there is definitely staying power!

When: April 12, 2009 10am-4pm

Where: The parade begins at Fifth Ave. and 49th Street near St. Patrick's Cathedral and continues up Fifth to 55th Street. Streets closed to traffic and participants wander the streets while admiring people's Easter best.
