Checked out the Vivienne Tam Sample Sale over lunch today and although there were about 10 or so shoppers, the sale was relatively quiet, with room to maneuver and navigate yourself to one of the 6 mirrors around the floors. Be warned as there are no fitting rooms, so this sample sale is not for the shy, although you could always don the ubiquitous sample sale uniform (leggings & tank top) to try things over. As always staffers were friendly and greeting everyone with a smile. There is a coat/large bag check but it’s optional to check purses.
As soon as you enter the sale at the front desk there are 6 styles of shoes that are only $60 a pop. They sizes range from 36-39 depending on the style but if you are a 38 or 39 you wil have better luck with the sizes. They are also selling Cotton Butterfly scarves for $15 and peony print bags for $30. A sign reminding you to pick up your Mother’s Day gift seems to be a good idea.
There also is a Tee for Japan that is still unavailable but you can pre-order it fro $25 a pop. All profits from this tee will go towards the Japanese Red Cross.

So for the dresses there were plenty of racks across a variety of sizes. The most prevalent being the small size (0-2) with about 5 racks of dresses, Size Medium (4-6) with 4 racks of dresses and Size Large (8-10) with 4 racks of dresses. Prices varied from $40 you could snag a Tee shirt dress with shoulder treatment or for $180 (down from $53) you could snag a signature butterfly printed stretch satin number from Spring 2010. The sample sale also hosted some current season Spring 2011 merchandise which although significantly is more than the older stock, is still a great discount from current store pricing. The dresses that were in this category retail for $595, but at the sample sale are available for $395 a pop. The embroidered lace and macramé rope detailing make this merchandise look really fresh and special.
