Just last week I got the chance to check out Cynthia Rowley's FW2010 Monster Girl collection at Gotham Hall. As I mentioned previously, Rowley did something unusual by partnering with the Gagosian for this collection and essentially knocked herself off. She created limited edition pieces from her collection that are on sale now! Talk about instant gratification!
These pieces are actually photographs of some of her runway looks that have been printed onto fabric and cost a fraction of her runway pieces at $150-320. Here's a look at just some of the pieces that are on sale now. I think it's quite a fun concept and there is a tongue-in-cheek quality that is really fun.
For those with fatter wallets? Instant gratification could be yours too with a complete runway look that includes one-of-a-kind samples including boots, skirt and fringe top for $4800.
I think that it only makes sense to make this kind of move as designers feel like they are being knocked off by fast fashion chains before their merchandise even has a chance to hit shops that some merchandise be ready for immediate purchase. What do you think of this concept?
