Now Wearing...

Print mesh cutout dress - secondhand Armani Exchange
Black bangle - H&M
Black silver cutout heels - Pour La Victoire
(not shown) Black ring - Forever 21
(not shown) Black bonjour necklace - Alex & Chloe
I love this dress! I was so happy when I found it at Buffalo Exchange last summer. The graphic print is so fun, and I love the mesh at the top. When I wear this dress, I tend to pair it with simple black accessories because the dress is so busy with the print and cutouts.

So these shoes, I love them, but they are evil. The arch is really too steep. They always feel fine when I put them on and wear them around the apartment, but after about an hour or maybe even less, pain. Such a shame because I think these heels are so hot! And I hate using the word "hot" to describe anything, but for these shoes, I'll say it.

I have a strict policy with my shoes. If I can't wear them out dancing, they go, but I can't part with these. They are my one exception to the rule. Thank goodness for the bus! Saved me a few blocks in the heels.

5 for 5 on StyleCaster

146548_1318353561.jpg

I was one of the lucky inaugural participants last month in a series called 5 for 5 run by the lovely folks at StyleCaster.com. Five bloggers, stylists and fashion enthusiasts are brought together show off their styling chops and create a unique look. I visited the StyleCaster offices and had a chance to play on a rack of clothing from Armani Exchange for the shoot. It was my first time styling so I was both excited and nervous but I ended up having a total blast and began fantasizing what it would be like to get to do it everyday.

Here is my look that I styled that was all about a play on texture. Since most of the clothing had a monochromatic feel I layered knits and outerwear pieces on a pair of sleek pleather pants to create my look. How do you think that I made out?

They also snapped a few shots of me to showcase my personal style. That particular day I was all about color and wearing some of my recent faves with a couple classic pieces.

Brose Fall 2011

IMAG0337IMAG0336IMAG0335

When I was first introduced to Brose, I was impressed by the feeling of luxury and feminine beauty. It is the kind of clothing that women would love to dress up in. Sparkling crystals, airy feathers and sequins lend their beauty to the eveningwear side of this collection while simple architectural lines create quite the modern approach to daywear.

IMAG0333IMAG0332IMAG0330

As for the woman behind the brand? Marika Brose is a triple threat with a plethora of international experience. In addition to a background in design, cutting her teeth at the likes of Chloe, AlexSandro and Pink Tartan she also ha extensive background in fashion merchandising as a buyer at Bloomingdale’s, Armani Exchange and the Hudson’s Bay Company. Working in marketing for luxe Holt Renfrew and Prada round out her experience. From the looks of her collection - I think that none of her experience was wasted.

IMAG0329IMAG0327IMAG0325

Since I am a sucker for sparkle, the Brose eveningwear pieces were a natural attraction but the sharp daywear pieces were the icing on the cake - especially the assymetric turtleneck sheath and skirt. Sexy, sophisticated, effortless - conjuring up in my mind comparisons to Reed Krakoff.

IMAG0323IMAG0322IMAG0321

Brose is available at select Holt Renfrew locations in Toronto and online at Beyond 7 Boutique. This may be the first time you've heard of the label Brose, but I'm sure it won't be your last. What do you think of the collection?
