DJ Lani Love Tomorrow Night at Le Poisson Rouge

If you’re around this weekend, you should come by Le Poisson Rouge tomorrow night for some good music and dancing. I’m going to be opening for DJ Morsy & DJ Kestar on the ones and twos. I’m really excited because I’ve been learning how to DJ for the past couple of years and this will be my first gig in the city!

Unlike fashion which has happened in more recent years, my music obsession started at an early age. When I was four, I played the violin, and when I was five, I picked up piano - so Asian. Then in high school, I was in choir for a couple years and blogged about music. Then in college, I hosted a weekly radio show and I was Music & Program Director of Chapman Radio. I really love music and I love being able to share what I love with others, so DJing is the perfect venue for me.

My set starts at 10PM and will be ending around 11, so please come early. I can promise you good music and $3 Rolling Rocks and $5 until midnight. Oh, and no cover! You can read more about the party at here. DJ Morsy & Kestar are awesome. Seriously, it’s always a crazy good dance party.

Hope to see you there!

Charly Greane at Le Poisson Rouge - Sat Sep 12th

I am so excited for the weekend! Four day work week, holla! If you're around this Saturday, you should make your way over to Le Poisson Rouge for Crooked Disco's Play Date party. Up and coming MC Charly Greane will be flying in from France for his US debut! Plus DJ sets from Tektite and resident DJs Morsy & Kestar.

Electro, house, disco and good hip hop - it's going to be a crazy dance party! This is the kind of thing you bring all your friends to. And did I already mention Charly Greane? Rapper and French? Done. In all seriousness, his beats are so sick and I'm really looking forward to see him live.
Who/What: Crooked Disco's Play Date featuring live performance from Charly Greane and DJ sets from Tektite, Morsy & Kestar
When: Saturday, September 12th, 10:00pm - 4:00am
Where: Le Poisson Rouge (138 Bleecker St at Sullivan), 21+

The party is free all night (!!!), but I would recommend showing up by 11:30 for the drink specials and to catch the live performance.

Crooked Disco Pre-Party Jamz

Artists: Crooked Disco DJs Morsy & Kestar
Recommended If You Like: Prince, Daft Punk, MGMT, Cut Copy

Every month DJ Morsy and DJ Kestar host Crooked Disco, a crazy dance party in Brooklyn, and this past week, they put together a mix for nightlife photographer, Nicky Digital.

The mix includes a variety of genres, including everything from disco and funk to indie pop and electro, and has bounce from beginning to end. The best thing about this mix is the refreshing selection of songs. Not all of the songs are new. In fact, some of the songs are old, but in this mix, they will sound funky fresh.

You can download/stream it from Nicky Digital or right click here to download. If you like what you hear, mark your calendars because November 1st will be the one year anniversary of Crooked Disco!

WeSC In-Store & After Party

Last Thursday, WeSC had an in-store party at Bloomingdale's with DJ Stretch Armstrong and DJ Morsy of NANA CHILL. Nylon Guys and Nicky Digital were also in attendance. Guests received exclusive Bloomingdale's edition WeSC headphones, which I wore in an earlier post from the weekend.

The event was great, but as a side note, if I were WeSC, I would have made the clothes more central to the party. Other than throwing headphones on mannequins, the WeSC racks were in hardly highlighted or separated from the dozens of other men's lines at Bloomingdale's. Oh well, it was a good party, and the headphones are beautiful. WeSC, you get some major cool points.

Believe it or not, the in-store party was followed with another party. The after party was at Home in West Chelsea. Apparently Wesley Snipes was there, but I totally missed him. Darn!

Awesome Color played at midnight. They weren't bad.
