Sale Report: Props for Today
So this is a bit of a change of pace from my usual sample sale reports on clothing and accessories but after switching through a couple of roommates this year, I am in the market for some furniture myself. This sale was interesting because you can look through items that were once rented to sets of shows like Gossip Girl, The Good Wife, SNL and even The Washington National Opera. Prices vary from piece to piece but is clearly indicated on large yellow tags. Some even featuring explanations of where and who was may have come into contact with the piece.
A few of my favorite pieces were the antique chairs from the set of Gossip Girl above that had beautiful carved armrests and legs. I was contemplating buying these but mid perusal a woman swooped in and was hovering with such intensity that I gave up on them. The chairs were $125 a piece. The beautiful brass and glass table above was on display was on sale for $995. The velvet studded couch was $1200.
If you are in the market for very 50s looking diner style chairs and stools they are just $25 a pop and come in a wide variety of colors. Vintage look photos were on sale for as low as $5-10. If you are in the market for a full set of dressers pieces that were rented to The Good Wife are selling for $150 to $375.
As for sofas this recliner rented to the Nate Berkus show is $150 and they had both a left and right side available to choose from. You could also get a simple loveseat, single chair and ottoman for $700 for the set. If you are looking to add a wild touch to your room, these ottomans from Will Smith’s The Last First Kiss are just $45 a pop.
If you are looking for an intricate buffet table this piece was rented to an SNL episode with Britney Spears and is selling for $550. A slightly damaged glass top aluminum table is $150 and this interesting mirrored piece was selling for $425.
An oversized chair that was used for a shoot with Glamor magazine is just $50,while interesting graphic look chairs are $40 each. Very traditional looking jacquard chairs from SNL with Anderson Cooper are $150 each.
There was also an assortment of random odds and ends at this sale including fire places, a jukebox and even a free mini barbeque!
While I didn’t end up personally picking up anything at the sale, I’m thinking of heading back and I had plenty of fun browsing the for most part gently priced merchandise.
