Sample Sale Report: Elie Tahari

Last night I had a chance to stop by the Elie Tahari sale after work. I arrived around 6:30 and thankfully there wasn't a lineup to get in. The space is fairly large with the mix of mens to womenswear being 25/75 in favor of womenswear. While the womenswear section was a bit more crowded, thankfully the men's section was relatively tame.

In terms of pricing, knits and T's were $19-$39 with the majority of what I saw priced at $19. Shirts and pants were $49, sweaters $69, and jackets/outerwear ranged from $99-$279. In terms of sizing, the majority of shirts/knits/sweaters were M, pants sizes were mostly 32, and outerwear ranged (mostly larger sizes for nylon coats - XL, and smaller sizes for leather - S).

There were about two rows of button down shirts, one row of outerwear, and a few racks of knits, sweaters and pants.

A few pieces stood out - including this woven plaid shirt. It had a cobalt blue hue woven into the check which popped. The fabric choice was a bit stiff for my liking so I decided to pass on it even though I thought the color combo was amazing.

It was nice to see some actual samples at this sale. In addition to the blue plaid shirt above, I saw another shirt with detailed collar work which had some pencil markings on the front pocket. I also spotted a couple items (not very many) with tears in the seams - so just make sure you check out the merch thoroughly before you buy.

In terms of the knits, I really dug this striped paneled T for $19(show above right). The stripes are individual panels sewn together vs printed on which creates a much more polished look. I actually picked up something similar to this at the Richard Chai sale a few weeks ago - otherwise this would have definitely come home with me.
