NYC Sample Sales: January 27-February 2, 2014

Hope that you've been staying warm this January! It's been so cold this month that I've had a hard time bringing myself to go anywhere, much less a sample sale. Also, recent development of insomnia this month isn't helping much either! I've tried the usual suspects of exercise, melatonin, tryptophan and even a few supplements...Anyone have any other suggestions? I will probably make it though to the Theory/Helmut Lang sample sale later this week. I'm still also eagerly anticipating the Marni sale in a couple weeks. NY Sample Sale Report: Kathryn Amberleigh

The Kathryn Amberleigh sample sale started yesterday and continues tomorrow 11/10 and Friday 11/12. A friend stopped by yesterday, and she reports that there were about 10 styles at the sale. The top three images were the most available styles with the biggest selection of colors and range of sizes. Note, the middle image is not the actual pair, just something similar.

The styles available weren't the line's hottest, but the prices were stellar. The pumps were $35, the booties were $60, and the boots $85. Sizing varied a bit between styles (heels vs. pumps, etc), so be sure to try them on! And remember to bring cash, as the sale is cash only.

iWant My Wings

Tis the Season where angels get their wings. I want to get my wings too, but more like Hermes from Greek mythology than an angel. Perhaps winged shoes half make me believe that will I be able to float in comfort and style. These Christian Louboutin Peplum T-Bar's got my attention right away because the fun gold wings totally remind me of Wonder Woman but are not at all costume. I love the retro t-bar silhouette with the peep toe...proportional perfection? At $895 I doubt I'll own these.
But fear not there is Kathryn Amberleigh's Angelika. This shoe comes in 3 colors including Marine, Red & Green with Silver trim for all. Although these don't scream Wonder Woman like the Louboutin's I don't think she would object to these fun pumps either. I'd still feel like I'm walking like a superhero and at $135 they are a lot easier on the wallet.
