Some of the 50 designers for featured designers for the Barbie Runway show were revealed to AP today. A bit surprised to say I don't see much pink. Perhaps designers didn't want to think about Barbie in the traditional sense but make her a bit more "modern"? Can't wait to see in real life.

Watch Out Barbie! Hello Kitty is on the prowl. This fashion week's theme is all about Barbie, in honor of her 50th Birthday she is getting her very own runway show in Bryant Park on February 14, 2009. However, this past Thursday night MAC decided to give Hello Kitty a run for her money by throwing a fashion party featuring Hello Kitty inspired fashion looks from another group of designers. Both are definitely iconic symbols for most females around the globe, but who's gonna inspire the best style?

Just announced today that MAC Cosmetics in partnership with Sanrio are to create a Hello Kitty color cosmetics collection. The Hello Kitty/MAC collection will launch on MAC’s website Feb. 10, 2009. It will hit stores in North American on Feb. 12 and overseas stores in March, 2009.
John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc tells WWD “This is a sexy and innocent fashion line, and a true MAC moment. In these times, everyone can use a little fun — and a little Kitty.”
Hello Kitty is getting a Luxe New York Home. Apparently, Sanrio is planning a brand new Sanrio Luxe concept shop in Times Square.
The store is located at 233 West 42nd Street and slated to open Nov 11, 2008.
According to WWD: "The idea behind the new concept is to attract fashion-forward women in their 20s who grew up with the Hello Kitty brand, said Janet Hsu, president of Sanrio global consumer products. The store, which will sell merchandise ranging from an exclusive pack of pencils for $5 to a diamond-encrusted pendant for $30,000, is filled with items that will only be found at the Times Square location." As iconic as Hello Kitty is I don't have any need to have a lifetime worth of Kitty via Diamonds! But I have a important question to ask Sanrio. If you were a true luxury customer, what on earth would you be doing in Times Square?
