I stopped by the Nicholas K and Cardigan joint sample sale in Soho earlier today. The vibe of the sale was very laid back with super friendly staffers who leave you to your own business. There were a fair number of shoppers but the space was large enough to feel comfortable in your own space. Sizes ranged from XS to XL but they the quantities tended to skew towards the smaller sizes for women.
The sale is broken into about 3 main sections with Nicholas K men's overstock on the left, some knit pieces by Nicholas K and Cardigan straight down the middle, Nicholas K women's overstock and vintage/sample racks to the right.
As much as I like Nicholas K for women, I am always so impressed with how they handle menswear. Below are some of my favorite pieces for men at the sale. Perhaps you can freshen up the wardrobe of the special man in your life!
These drop crotch knit shorts with utility pockets are so stylish and priced at $85. This unique take on a plaid shirt is really eyecatching but wearable and will set you back $120.
This cotton voile pop-over shirt with stand collar is very sleek and also $120. This mixed material jacket which is perfect for the city is $250.
For women's overstock, here are my favorite pieces.
I'm a sucker for tie dye so this fluttery dress with easy tie wast is a natural. This long drapey dress is perfectly vampy. Dresses are priced $150-175.

Cardigan did not appear to have a set price list and pieces were marked on the tags or rack. I saw some cute sweaters for $60, previous season lightweight sweaters for men for $60, some adorable striped shorts in a bin for $40. A snake print sweater for $90.
For the real bargains, the rack of Nicholas K samples hold the best prices. Here are some examples of what you can find.

Aside from this, there is a small selection of purchased samples from other designers available with prices as marked, including this DVF blouse for $40 and this Millau high/low flounce skirt $50.
Last but not least, if vintage is your thing, there is a rack of vintage samples with all pieces selling for $50 a pop.
At the back there were piles of shoes including some runway samples and a few designer shoes by Christian Louboutin and Jill Stuart that appeared only mildly scuffed on the bottom or in some cases unworn. Oddly unlike other sales where these are typically in model sizes (40-41), some of the shoes were in size 36.

I always love the amount of detail in Nicholas K outerwear pieces and this short sleeve utility jacket would look great over just about anything and will cost $250. If I was feeling a bit more casual, this drapey sweatshirt hoodie is a really elegant take on a basic and costs $140.
