Sample Sale Report: MiH April 2013
Last night I stopped by the MiH sample sale in Soho. MiH is the British brand that has been creating leg lengthening well fitting jeans since 1969. It sells at high end retail channels like Net-a-Porter and Barneys New York. I arrived to a spacious room that was filled with rack upon rack of skinny and flare jeans in a rainbow of colors. The prices are really great! Jeans are just $40 a pop, which is a steal considering that they normally retail for around $200+. I'm not going to lie, these jeans make my butt look pretty darn perky and I bought a few pairs to prove it - The Oslo in particular is my personal go-to with it's slim leg and mid rise, there is some feeling of security because it covers up some of the softer stomach bits.
There were a few shoppers perusing but I didn't have any trouble navigating the racks that surround the room and are organized by size. Sizes range from a 24 to a 32 but if you are a size 26, you will have by far the largest selection of jeans to choose from. Aside from blues in every shade possible, there were some pastel flares in mint and soft pink that were perfect for Spring in addition to deep orange, browns and blues that will take you into Fall. I didn't notice any "waxed" denim or leather pairs but there were some interesting fabrications, including one that gave you the look of grey flannel. There were a few pairs of shorts at the sale including some silk pairs for $45 and some adorable scallop linen ones for just $25. With hot weather on the way, I wish I had the chance to give these a closer look but I ran out of time. Although the sale technically ended at 7pm, staffers didn't give us the boot right away and I had an extra 15 minutes or so to wrap up my browsing and check out.
If you are a fan of velvet or corduroy try your luck at a table that holds various sizes and styles in both skinny and flare because these pants are all now only $20 a pair! In baby pink, brown, tan, ivory or electric blue these would look great for next Fall. These velvets are what I ended up picking up a couple pairs of because I figure they will be a good no denim alternative for the casual workplace and the price is right.
Aside from bottoms, there were some great woven shirting options at $30, as well as some tee shirts for $15, but let's be real, the jeans are what bring you to this sale. I did spot 1 amazing shearling gillet that is a steal at $120 but since it was a large, it didn't make the leap from the rack to my closet.
