While the NYC based label Honor by designer Giovanna Randall may not be on your radar yet, it should be. Since the debut collection in last Spring 2011’s NYFW, Honor has gained industry recognition as a label to watch, and not without good reason – the clothes are elegant, effortless and striking. Femininity that is never overdone and an easy sense of timelessness are hallmarks of the collection.
As for the sample sale, when I hit it up in the last 10 minutes of last night it was fairly quiet, peaceful and extremely well organized. The shopping space is well lit and very spacious with plenty or room to look. Every item has been clearly indicated by price stickers or sample price tags. Sizes at the range from 0 to a 14. While prices were already significantly reduced, as of tomorrow morning they will be even further slashed from sample sale pricing! There are a few other items that will be reduced to 50% off the indicated original sample sale prices.
While this Silk/Linen blazer retails for $1500 it is a steal at just $195! The super slimming trousers that were $850 are now $95! The perfect trench that was once $2500 is now slashed to $447.50. The calvary cotton twill jacket was $1500 and now is $195.
Snag a super cute silk crepe lace dress for $195 and draped oversized silk blouse for $150. Simple silk shirt dresses, floral crepe shorts, gold lame blouse, floor length button front silk crepe skirts, lace/silk blouse for $95. At the low end of the spectrum silk jersey tanks are now just $30! While the one shoulder jacquard dress is now $347.50, the showstopper of a bow accessory that can be worn with it has been significantly discounted to $95 for the version with the leather holster and $50 for the smaller simpler version. The bow can be worn on the shoulder or on the behind for a dramatic surprise to your evening look. To be honest I keep thinking about this bow, and although it's not exactly practical it's just so lovely that I am tempted to go back tomorrow for it.
Some of the most serious bargains come in the form of knits, belts and shoes. Snag knit tops that were once $300 for $30, belts for just $25 and gently worn runway shoes by Repetto, Doro and Dolce Vita for just $50 a pair. These shoes range in size from 8-10 1/2.
The pieces that will set you back the furthest are the most glamorous red carpet ready looks that are in the far back corner of the sale. Silk Crepe Flamingo Print Maxi with Keyhole is now $400, was $2800. Beaded Eyelet Cocktail Dress now $600, was $5900. Airy printed chiffon Maxi now $347.50.
Ethereal mesh dress now $950.
This sample sale is a great place to pick up designer quality pieces at a fraction of the cost and introduce some beautiful new classics to your wardrobe. If you are looking to support an emerging designer or add some industry cred to your wardrobe before a label blows up - this is a rare chance. Also, if you are a shoe size between 8 and 10 1/2, its a no brainer to hit up this sale stat!
If I wasn't heading to Sweden this Friday with the warning that it was one of Europe's most expensive countries, I probably would have blown a hole in my wallet.
