Alexander McQueen for Target Confirmed

From McQueen's Fall 2008 collection

Target is killing it with their designer collaborations. Alexander McQueen has been confirmed for Target collection! Who's excited?

"The collection will have rock 'n' roll influences and edgy details such as studs and tattoo-print fabrics. Designer Initiative is a separate program from Target's Go International, which focuses on young or emerging designers. Target said additional Designer Collections will be announced in the future. Each collection will be available in stores for a limited time."

Update from Erin: I am sooo excited for this one, I can't even tell you! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! But just to clarify, this will be the McQ version of McQueen's line and will be called "McQ Alexander McQueen for Target" and set to debut in March. With this just the first of the collaborations with well established designers, I can't wait to see who will be next!

Designers for the new Target partnership are to choose a muse, collborative partner or other creative elements to inspire the capsule collection. McQueen's muse will be Liela Moss, lead singer of Brit band The Duke Spirit

WWD reports:
McQ Alexander McQueen for Target will feature lightweight sweaters, skinny jeans, bubble dresses, slim skirts and cuffed shorts. Signature pieces include a coated cotton poplin black trench, a rock ’n’ roll gray denim cropped studded jacket, a men’s wear-inspired tuxedo blazer and a color-blocked one-shoulder dress with bubble hem. The collection also will include swimwear and cotton voile print scarves. Price points were not yet available.

The collection has a muted color palette of black, white, gray and tan with accents of cobalt blue and bright pink. Studs and mesh give items an edge. For example, a chambray sleeveless shirtdress has stud detailing, there’s a mesh wrap dress and an open yarn zipper cardigan. Graphic prints and silk-screen photographs give tunics, dresses and T-shirts visual interest. The Leila silk-screen T-shirt with a necklace collar was designed for The Duke Spirit lead singer, while other band members are immortalized on a sleeveless jersey T-shirt.

will target ever come to canada?

Not sure if they will as long as Zellers is there, as so many of the licensees they carry like Mossimo, Cherokee & Others are duplicate! Even though the brands are the same, the designers are not!
