Stopped by the Jodi Arnold Sample Sale after work last night, despite the cold winds and slushy streets, and was greeted by not your typical sample sale. As it was held in the boutique - the settings were spacious, the racks well stocked and organized and the staffers very friendly. Sizes range from 0-10 or XS-L and there seems to be plenty of just about everything. Prices were well marked on each garment making for easy shopping minus calculating/matching pieces on a chart. Another bonus of it being held in a boutique? Real fitting rooms and plenty of mirrors!
While many of the designs featured opulent beading and embellishment, prices at 50-70% off retail are not out of reach. The silk charmeuse tank with delicate and delicious metallic Battenberg and sequins was marked from $330 to $110. There was also a lovely dress version for $165. The beaded skirt with elastic waist gives a very au courante vibe and was slashed from $425 to $160. Definitely a showstopper piece that would make even the simplest tee shirt look fabulous.
As for tops the prices varied depending on the detailing. The shoulder heavy embellished Tee is $99, while the sequined circle silk blouse is $135 and the printed puff shoulder blouse is now $99.Sweaters/cardigans ranged from about $99-175. The chain detail grandpa cardigan is a personal fave at $175. Also on the sweater table are one of the great deals of the sample sale, leather/ponte leggings for $99, was $396.The Sequin Shoulder dress in ponte is marked down to $125.
One item that was flying solo was this genuine rabbit fur in this sumptuous gillet. It’s a size 8 and selling fro $225. The cocoon coat above with the chain collar is really fun and marked down to $220 from $704. I personally think that this leather jacket is the stand out deal of the sale priced at just $275. It features genuine rabbit collar that can zip off. The leather is a great chestnut color and so buttery soft. This classic double breasted tweed blazer gets a bit of a modern lift with a metallic sheen in the fabric and is priced at $165.
One of my fave pieces of the sample sale has to be this bead neck dress, the print, the chunky necklace beading is so spot on. It’s priced at $165, while the tank top version of the dress is $110. The graphic silk dress above is makes a statement and is priced at $135. Finally this fun beaded skirt is priced at $145. I also spotted some ponte pants for $99 and some drop crotch washed silk shorts for $55.
If you look at comparative value, the leather pieces and the embellished goods are well worth the extra money. These are great quality, beautiful clothes that feature unique details that you really couldn’t find anywhere else. Whether you’re looking for a showstopper piece, a bit of wearable everyday luxury or a new refined classic you’ll find it at the Jodi Arnold Sale. Had I not been feeling a bit broke from my London/Toronto trips and wanting to go on a bigger vacation in 2011, I’d definitely be picking up a few things! I am going to try to go on a temporary clothing freeze, but not sure how long that will last for, esp if there are additional markdowns on that fur trim leather jacket!
