Over the weekend I went to the Eske Kath after party hosted by the Six Six Sick girls and saw a performance from the lovely Nanna Øland Fabricius, stage name Oh Land. Her music is memorizing, heavenly and eerie in the same breath. She is absolutely stunning and adorable!
Oh Land started in 2004 due to an unfortunate injury. That year Nanna finished her education at the Stockholm Ballet School and a back injury put an abrupt end to her promising career as a ballerina, so thankfully for all of us, she turned to music. After putting demos on MySpace, she caught the attention of DJs and producers, leading to her signing to indie Fake Diamond Records.
Fauna, Oh Land's debut album was released earlier this month and is available on iTunes. To preview a few of her tracks, check out her MySpace page - myspace.com/ohlandmusic.
And for those of you in New York, she's doing another solo performance this Friday, Nov 28th at The Living Room in Lower East Side. She's scheduled to go on at 10 PM.
