Korean food didn't used to be on the list of ethnic foods that most people I knew have tried. But moving to New York, everything is different. Perhaps it's all those Korean owned deli's introducing people to Korean food alongside the salad bar and sandwiches. Or maybe it's just the availability for variety that this city offers but more and more people I know have tried or semi regularly eat Korean food. For the first time ever, there will be a New York Taste of Korea.
The spotlighted food for this year is Bibimbab, which is a rice dish that contains a variety of prepared herbs, vegetables, possibly meat/egg and then mixed together with a sesame based hot sauce. From September 29-October 4th participating restaurants in the city will be serving Bibimbab, Bibimbap sets or Bibimbab Pre-Fixe meals at a discounted rate. There will also be events such as a bibimbap making demonstration at Macy's Cellar this coming Saturday October 4th at 1pm.
You can see menu details and participating restaurants below.
