If you didn’t have the chance to make it to the Alexander Wang sample sale or couldn’t stomach the line, SSENSE the e-commerce site is having a major sale with prices up to 70% off.  Anyways, just thought it was interesting to note that some of these prices are most likely similar or slightly less than what you can find at the sample sale this time around. Here are a few bargains that I spotted.   Shop quickly because sizes won’t last long.

Sample Sale Report: Alexander Wang

If you come to the Alexander Wang sample sale looking for shoes under size 36 or affordable samples you are out of luck. This sample sale was all about stock and while for the T line prices start at $35, most of what I would actually want was from collection and in the $140+ realm. This time around I also noticed that the merchandise was a refreshingly not as black but instead a sea of luxe neutrals.

T by Alexander Wang is $35, $60 or $100. I spotted some zip ponte shorts and tee shirts for $35, zip front ponte dresses and tee shirt dresses for $60, and little jackets and long maxi satin slip dresses for $100.
Ready To Wear is $60, $100 – then increments of $20 until $200, Then $240, $260 and finally as marked. I spotted a very unique architectural vest for $340, printed organza see-through blouses for $140, Perfect cropped trench coats for $240.
That said there are plenty of sizes and the sale seemed to be operating as a pretty tightly run ship. Expect bag check but fortunately it was run efficiently, no change rooms although women had set up a pseudo change area behind a few racks and security personnel set up in every 10 feet of the space. Although lines were forming as I left the sale they seemed to be moving.
For the coveted hardware heavy handbags organized neatly on 2 racks. There is also a table of mini box looking bags with metal corners reminiscent of luggage. Handbags are priced at $250, $300, $350 or $400.

For the shoes they run from sizes 36 to 41, with best selection from 37 to 40. Footwear is priced at $170, $250 and $300. Plenty of lace up bootie styles. I spotted a pair of wedge slip on loafers shoes that were on The Outnet last week for $46 at the sample sale for $250.

The Menswear section was relatively empty save for a few women shopping for their boyfriend's or maybe even themselves. Mens T is priced at $35, $60, $100, $160, $200, $240 and $250.

Signs clearly indicate there will be new stock everyday and I am anticipating there will be heavy markdowns once Sunday rolls around if the stock will hold out for that long. During my visit during the friends and family segment, the crowds were bustling but not overwhelming.

Look for Less: The Maxi Dress

T by Alexander Wang

I’ve mentioned previously, long jersey skirts/dresses, are the next must-have item that have quietly snuck onto the runways and now ready for your closet. I got a reminder last week when I was looking at The Magazine on Net-a-Porter and they were talking about "Great Lengths". I have to concur that the slim maxi length is definitely going to be huge this fall. Fortunately this is a relatively easy and affordable look to achieve. Even at the higher end of the spectrum this T by Alexander Wang dress will only cost you $105.

norma kamali maxi dress

If the T by Alexander Wang maxi however is not in your budget you could always thank Ms Norma Kamail for creating a similar jersey body with a slightly more open neckline that will not break the bank at an even $20.

Super basic, the maxi dress looks great with booties, faux fur gilets, a great belt and of course with this fall’s aviator jackets. It’s the perfect throw-on staple that will have you not only feeling comfortable but also hopefully looking tall and elegant too. The only pitfalls of this look could be possible Visible Panty Line and making sure that awkward lumps and bumps are smoothed out. I would make sure that you pick up the correct size to prevent the dress from clinging too much to the stomach and making sure that appropriate undergarments are worn to achieve a smooth silhouette. I'll be placing my order soon!

Alexander Wang Men's Line is for Diffusion

In other Alexander Wang news, as previously reported, Wang is now set to debut his men's line at the the end of the month. It actually will not be a part of his runway collection but part of his "T by Alexander Wang" diffusion line that according to WWD,
"he is evolving beyond T-shirt and tank basics for women as well."

So more Wang for both men and women for less? Sounds like something to be excited about :)

Preview: T by Alexander Wang Fall 2009

Alexander Wang's diffusion line T by Alexander Wang Fall 2009 lookbook was released today. The look continues to be slept in wilted tee look. Some pieces are standard basics like the oversized tee and the stretched out racer back, while others like the thermal onsie and one shoulder t/tank are a little more unique. A floor length slim dress is reminiscent of MK Olsen. Color palatte continues to be black and washed out nude but with an addition of soft heather brown and rich eggplant. Prices range are about $74-89.

Preview: T by Alexander Wang

Here's a preview of Alexander Wang's new diffusion line from his lookbook. "T by Alexander Wang" features 12 styles of comfortable T-shirt dresses, tanks, and shirts that look already worn out and worked in. He told WWD “Necklines are stretched and armholes are strategically lowered so that it looks worn in … It’s like sleeping in a T-shirt and then wearing it the next day. It’s not this crisp little T out of the dryer. It’s draped and kind of wilted." Prices range are about $74-89 and will be hitting stores by the end of this month. The line will be available at Barneys New York, Opening Ceremony and Kirna ZabĂȘte and available now for pre-order on SaksFifthAvenue.com/. While still not dirt cheap for a jersey tee, it's not unaffordable either especially for those wanting to get a piece of the Wang at a fraction of the price of his regular collection. With Wang's sales increasing in the last year, while others have faltered due to the recession, here's a young designer who knows what women want. Effortless Cool is always at the core of Alexander Wang's designs. I particularly like the first droopy racer back tank shown.
