Look for Less: Simone Rocha Neon Floral Dress

Image via InStyle

My friend Kate has been eying Simone Rocha's floral embroidered dress.  The shape of the dress and floral pattern are adorably sweet and the neon makes it a standout piece, but the $1,500 price tag is quite steep for the everyday woman.  So I browsed the web to help her find a few more affordable alternatives and here's what I found:

The closet match was this "sharp lime" dress from Cynthia Steffe.  Like the Simone Rocha dress, it's a classic shape in a neon hue with a lace overlay.

American Spirit: Red, White & Blue

In the spirit of July 4th, I thought it would be fun to do a post dedicated to red, white and blue!

Jeffrey Campbell "El Carmen" platform, $130
UNIF American Flag shirt, $128

Nasty Gal has quite a handful of American flag print items this season. These two are my favorites of the bunch.

Topshop flag printed hot pants, $70
Na Nin Vintage American flag scarf$24

These items would be fun to wear to a casual BBQ or picnic. And I'd like to point out that the scarf is made in the USA! Perhaps one day all American flag print items will actually made domestically.

Corey Lynn Calter silk crop top, at Gilt $65, retail $141
Corey Lynn Calter pleated skirt, at Gilt $75, retail $158

This blue silk top and red cotton skirt from Corey Lynn Calter are currently on sale at Gilt Groupe. These pieces would be great not just for the holiday, but also the rest of summer! The sale ends tonight, so act fast.

iLike: Funktional Zip Prairie Cutout Dress

Awhile back when Erin and I had the chance to preview Funktional's upcoming collection, and I fell in love with the silk prairie dress. It was so feminine with the open back and flowly fabric, but the black zipper and cutout shoulders made this dress fresh and edgey.
And now, the dress is now available for purchase! You can find it at Revolve Clothing and Nasty Gal for $118.

Oh, Look It's Ras Trent

Nasty Gal is one of my favorite online boutiques, but this sweater, really? Did someone really think this drug rug could pass off as a vintage gem?
All I see when I look at that sweater is the Ras Trent skit from SNL.

Just Ordered: Funktional Cage Dress

Last month Erin and I had the opportunity to preview Funktional's new collection, and you may recall my obsession with the cage dress.
I was totally set on buying the dress the moment it came out. This might seem silly, but after I heard that Rihanna wore it, I got a little turned off. It's not that I dislike Rihanna; in fact, I really admire her style, but sometimes celebrities kill it for me because the item feels a little less special and personal.
After consulting with a few friends, I decided that I loved the dress too much to let it go, and sometimes nothing is worse than waiting on an item and missing out.
With the power of Google, I found the coveted cage dress on StyleQ for only $85! Seriously, how could anyone pass that up? And to sweeten the deal, I found a 10% off discount code. I'm not sure when it expires, but enter "affiliate" at checkout for 10% off your first order.

Speaking of StyleQ, I'm really into it! There's not too much on the site right now, but what is there is quality. I love the styling, and they have some great classy, chic pieces. Blair Waldorf and the Gossip Girl crew would probably approve.

And because I anticipate the Funktional dress selling out on StyleQ, here's a link to the same sexy number on my other favorite online shop, Nasty Gal.

Sam Edelman Zoe Boots Are Back!

Sam Edelman Zoe Boots, $345.00

The coveted Sam Edelman "Zoe" boots are being re-released! These boots were inspired (cough, knock off) from Balenciaga's fall 2006 collection and widely associated with Mary-Kate Olsen.

Balenciaga Fall 2006

And since then the boots have popularized thanks for some all star bloggers like Rumi of Fashion Toast, Susie of Style Bubble and Jane of Sea of Shoes. Fall 2006, that's almost three years ago, but these boots are still a hot commodity, selling for $500+ on eBay.

While $345 is still pretty hefty, if you're been eyeing these boots for awhile, it just might be worth it. Nasty Gal, one of my favorite online shops, is currently accepting pre-orders, with a deposit of $10 taken immediately. You can also find them for the same price at Jildor.

Neon Love at Nasty Gal

My favorite online boutique Nasty Gal just got new pieces from Brooklyn-based Love Brigade. Neon love, so hot! My favorite pieces are the two on the left, the Electric Layer Tank ($62) and Shard Dream Dress ($134). I love the mesh layering - perfect for spring and summer!

While you're at shopnastygal.com, be sure to check out their notorious vintage collection! They always have the most incredible finds and super styling.
