Now Wearing...

Brown shrug sweater - Ann Taylor Loft
Dark blue silk tank - Kenneth Cole
Black jersey harem pants - secondhand Forever 21 via clothing swap
Brown pleather backpack - secondhand, my mom was throwing it out
Chunky bead necklace - Ann Taylor loft
Rings - Forever 21 & no name
Nude leather wooden platform heels - Luxury Rebel sample

Over the weekend, my friend Karen organized a small clothing swap with a few friends. It was awesome! We cleaned out our closets and each took home a few "new" old gems. I took home a handful of pieces including these harem pants - thanks, Claudia!

Harem pants can be pretty great. They're so comfy and perfect for lazy Sundays, but they can be dangerous because they tend to make me look a little short and frumpy. To elongate my legs and add a little structure, I strapped on these nude heels and called it a day.

Now Wearing...

Reversible black & pink blouse - 1980s vintage
High-waisted purple jeans - H&M
Black & white cutout flats - Jeffrey Campbell Saraid 2
Key necklace - Forever 21
Blue plastic eyeglasses - vintage Alain Milki
I really love these frames, but I don't wear them everyday because they are a little ridiculous. I bought them from eBay last year when I had the flu, so I didn't know they would be that big and I wasn't exactly thinking clearly. I don't regret the purchase though; I think these glasses are a great way to add some color and fun to an outfit.

By the way, speaking of glasses, I've noticed a lot of fake glasses popping up at retailers like Topshop and Forever 21. When I say fake, I mean non-prescription. I'm not really into it. Maybe I'm being selfish, but I think glasses should be reserved for people who actually need them. I hate that I have terrible vision and need to wear glasses, so I try to make the most of it with fun frames. Don't take that away from me! Haha.

Now Wearing...

Today's weather was beautiful! It was so warm and sunny during the day - hot even. It felt like summer again!

Diamond lace blouse - vintage
Brown tank - Mossimo, Target
Acid wash cutoff shorts - Current/Elliott
Brown woven oxford flats - Jeffrey Campbell
Necklace - Ann Taylor Loft
Bracelets - Forever 21

I absolutely love these flats. I wore them all summer. I'm planning to wear them into the fall, but I tore up the toes pretty badly so we'll see how long they'll last. I'm so clumsy. Must stop tripping on everything!

Now Wearing...

Print mesh cutout dress - secondhand Armani Exchange
Black bangle - H&M
Black silver cutout heels - Pour La Victoire
(not shown) Black ring - Forever 21
(not shown) Black bonjour necklace - Alex & Chloe
I love this dress! I was so happy when I found it at Buffalo Exchange last summer. The graphic print is so fun, and I love the mesh at the top. When I wear this dress, I tend to pair it with simple black accessories because the dress is so busy with the print and cutouts.

So these shoes, I love them, but they are evil. The arch is really too steep. They always feel fine when I put them on and wear them around the apartment, but after about an hour or maybe even less, pain. Such a shame because I think these heels are so hot! And I hate using the word "hot" to describe anything, but for these shoes, I'll say it.

I have a strict policy with my shoes. If I can't wear them out dancing, they go, but I can't part with these. They are my one exception to the rule. Thank goodness for the bus! Saved me a few blocks in the heels.

Erin and I been learning a little bit about shooting with a digital SLR over the past couple of weeks, and I just have to say that I am so proud of her. She snapped these pictures on completely manual settings! We're really excited to be learning more about photography and hope that you enjoy the jump in photo game.

Now Wearing...

Gray open back dress - Rapscallion by Samantha Pleet, black lace is from my slip
Black oxford heels - Jeffrey Campbell
Black turban - vintage
Black chain bag - Kooba
Peacock Cuff - dirtystory

In general, I think exposed under garments is trashy, but lately I've been ok with the edge of my black slip peeping out. I started wearing it purely because some of my dresses, including this one, felt too short, so I wore the slip for an extra couple inches. But now with the 90s wave, lace is in and everyone just assumes it's part of the dress!

Now Wearing...

Paint covered white jeans - Helmut Lang
Light blue tank - Gap
Distressed "denim" vest - Forever 21
Necklace - borrowed from Erin
Peacock cuff - dirtystory
Wedges - Old Navy

I have really bad luck. The first time I wore these jeans the waitress at lunch poured a bowl of soup into my lap. Then after a 12 hour work day I got caught in the middle of a thunder storm and torrential downpour. Thank goodness for the giant strokes of paint; they kept my pants from becoming completely see through. Ugh, so brutal. These jeans may be a jinx, but God help me, I still love them.
