Now Wearing...

My cousin decided after much debate to get rid of this boucle coat. I liked the look of it, but it was a couple sizes too big, so I decided it was high time I found a tailor. I'm able to to most simple alterations like hemming or taking up shoulders but for a coat I thought it would be best if I let someone else give it a shot. Some research on yelp led me to Laura and Melinda Tailor in the LES and I think that Mustafa did a great job for a reasonable price.

yay! the coat lives on! i found it at the top of a department store in Gwacheon, South Korea in 2003 and now, almost 7 years and Mustafa later, it's roaming around the streets of Brooklyn, rocked by Miss Erin.

Erin,

How many sizes did you have to take the coat down? How much did it cost? Do tell!!

The coat was about 2 sizes too big. Actually when I first tried it on, my co-worker told me it looked like I was wearing my dad's coat! Wish I took before and after pictures. It cost $45 to take it in.

Thanks Erin,

I'll definitely bookmark this place! Btw, was it just taken in on the sides, or all around (shoulders, arms, etc..)? I might go on a tailoring frenzy!!

No probs! He determined that the arms were okay for winter sweater wearing, so it was taken in mostly in the sides and in the back. I def am planning to go back to get my YSL jacket taken in. He's pretty friendly and tells you what he's doing as he pins to make sure you're comfortable with it.
