Twinkle by Wenlan - Runway Review

Wenlan Chia, designer for Twinkle by Wenlan has been lacking in press the last few seasons, and perhaps it is in part due to the fact that last season immediately after the runway show she had to change PR companies. Or perhaps she is the type of designer who doesn't necessarily make splashy headlines but quietly and consistently focuses on product that satisfies her clientele.

The Twinkle Spring 2009 Collection was not groundbreaking or cutting edge, but she stuck with the things that she does so well. Whimsical prints, many an adorable pair of shorts/rompers, interesting knits and easy to wear soft silk dresses and relaxed tailoring that makes it look like you're not trying too hard but still manage to look sharp. For freshness there were interesting strap details and exposed zippers in addition to well executed harem tuxedo pants. The color palatte was heavy on black & white, but added in some bright canary, red and cobalt for pop. Girlish, charming and almost ready to sail away on a yacth!

Overall, I enjoyed the show as did Mark Indelicato aka Justin Suarez of Ugly Betty Fame who was sitting in the front row and kind enough to delight us with a couple of pictures.

*Bonus* Fun Gift Bags!!! Great reversible canvas bags in signiture print that seem made to comfortably rest on my forearm. Contents? Redken Shampoo & Conditioner, Lush Dream Cream, Creative Nailpolish and Sensations Scrub, Paul Robinett Aromatherapy Candle, Insomnia Cookie, Izze Sparkling Juice.
