D&G - Runway Review
The D&G collection brought be back to what I would imagine the days Coco Chanel spent at the Deauville Beaches if you pumped up the trashy glam sex factor. Looks revolved around the nautical with stripes, chunky beads, anchors, rope prints and rope trim sandals reigning the runway. There was a lot of old school maillots and jumpers glammed up with sequins and fishnet stockings. Shine was definitely important as satin and lame were key fabrics. Attention to the neck, ruffles, roses and peplums were some of the main design details. The colors red, white, navy and gold were all keeping within the nautical theme.
Overall I thought it was a cohesive collection however I wasn't a fan of some of those metallic taffeta neck pieces. Definitely a very safe theme & route for the designers I would have liked to have saw more brought to the table considering their reputation for sexy splashy fashion.

Is this the return of Pirate Chic? During some time abroad I remember walking into a Bershka in Barcelona and seeing the red/white, blue/white stripes everywhere...don't we have a few more years until that comes back again?
