Sample Sale Report: Chloe & Reese

Midtown New York NYC Sample Sale August 2010I stopped by the Chloe & Reese Sample sale over lunch as I was in the area and had a bit of an odd experience.  For starters there was no signage indicating a sample sale was in progress.  When I entered, 2 staffers vaguely directed me to another room where a gentleman directed me to a back room for sample sale.  I felt a bit confused as if I was in the wrong place as there was no one around to speak to.  I was the only shopper and also the only person in the room.  I have been to plenty of sample sales and do prefer if staffers don’t hover over me, but there was no signage even indicating prices of merch.  I tried to examine tags but only found a couple bridesmaid type dresses marked with prices ($130 & 180)Midtown New York NYC Sample Sale August 2010The merch available definitely was geared towards the smaller end of the spectrum with plenty of XS & S in addition to sizes 2 & 4.Midtown New York NYC Sample Sale August 2010 Only a handful of dresses were available that leaned towards the more daywear end of the spectrum (pictured on the right 1/2 of the rack above).  Everything else was party/bridesmaid type dresses and 1/2 a rack of poufy skirts

Altogether only 6 racks of sparsely laid out merch at a very quiet sample sale.  When staffers didn’t seem to be around after about 10 minutes of browsing I quietly made my exit, mostly likely unnoticed.

On a side note I stumbled into another sample sale on the same floor where they had $5 tees & $20 wool coats that wasn’t quite my style but amazingly affordable. I believe it was in suite 1204.

Wouldn’t go out of your way for this one!

Wow, that's really disappointing. Especially since you were the lone shopper, you'd think you'd get at least a little attention and service. Agreed that you don't want someone hovering, but a little human interaction makes a big difference!

Cheers!
