UPDATE: Sample Sale Report: Proenza Schouler

Now an ADDITIONAL 50% OFF! RUN!!! got an amazing metallic architectural skirt for $80 and a gauzey blouse for $50

What: Proenza Schouler
Why: Stock from past spring and resort collections — tops, bottoms, dresses, shoes — start at $50.
When: July 29-31. Wed.-Fri., 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Where: 495 Broadway, b/t Spring & Broome Sts., 8th fl Stopped by the Proenza Schouler sample sale yesterday morning and I found the pricing to be quite mixed but there was plenty of merch to choose from.

Overall:
*Lots of merch over 14 racks
*7 boxes of tees
*very hot inside, with no a/c only a fan but well lit
*no mirror
*Mostly sizes 2 to 8. 4-8 the most common sizes

Some of the merch that was cheapest I definitely recall being there at the last sample sale. Some $30 silk parachute pants come mostly in sizes M & L. There was one pair of S but they were too much pant for my frame. There were also some pleat front wool pants for $30 and some textured linen trousers for $30! Unfortunately most of the slimmer fitting pants that I liked were in the $150-210 range.

There was an amazing pair of sequin pants for $175

Some skirts were $30 as well! Mostly pencil, and khaki but other styles were available for $50, $75 but the majority were $110 to $180.

Tee Shirts/Tanks were $60-80. Tissue jersey tanks $60, tissue t $60, with stripes $80, with print $70, neon tanks $80.

Other prices include bandage dresses $400, sequin dresses $400, bandage skirts $300, sleeveless blouses $110

There were a few (like 3 or 4) belts marked at various prices but no shoes and no sunglasses. No bags either.

She Wants to Dance All Night

It's Friday. Let's do this! I can't wait for the weekend. There are so many birthdays going on, and one of my best friends is visiting from Chicago. Dance parrrtay!

So story about this video, it helped me win a Summer Jamz contest for a pair of Current/Elliott boyfriend shorts from Chickdowntown and Six Six Sick, one of my favorite blogs. These ladies have such amazing DIYs, truly original content, unique style and point of view. Love!

Yay summer! Yay shorts! And yay for awesome music! Sorry I'm typing like a child. Everything's just got me so happy.

Congratulations, Carolyn!

Congratulations to Carolyn from Northern California!

She won our POSSIBLE New York starfish necklace giveaway! Just in time for the last stretch of summer. Can you believe August is already here?

Cream flats - Vivienne Westwood Anglomania x Melissa
Clutch - no name, Century 21
Necklace - Ann Taylor Loft
Bangles - from a friend via clothing swap

The other night I went to a speakeasy basement party, and it was awesome! That wall of beers? A door! So fun! It was a great night, but because New York's weather blows, of course it rained when we stepped outside.

iWant Hervé Léger Multifacted Oval Clutch

I'm so jealous of that model. One, she's a model, and two, she's got a bunch of Hervé Léger clutches!

The clutch I want is from Hervé Léger's spring 2009 collection. I fell in love the first time I saw it, but since it retails for $598 I forced myself to move on. Months later I find myself still lusting after the darn thing, so I figure it's time for an overdue iWant post.

It's cute, geometric and comes in bright, bold colors. How could one resist? Oh, right, I need to eat and pay rent. If I was a baller or had some extra cash, I'd definitely go for the lime green clutch. What color would you pick?

Sample Sale Report: Malia Mills

Went by Malia Mills at lunch yesterday. To note the sale isn't marked when you get off the elevator so swing to the door on your right and make a right turn straight down to the sale area.

The sale in general was hectic as it was a small space with no real changing area leaving woment to fend for themselves wherever floor space allowed. It was hard to snag pics while avoiding changing women!

The sale was mostly swimwear obviously but there was some sportswear for $50 or $100 on one rack by the front. The "Tie Me Up" Dress was $100 vrs $375 retail.
Some printed silk scarves for $25, in pale shades as well as kid's swim suits for $25 per piece.

For shoes they had plenty of black Wrapture Sandals for $50 (retails $225), but only a small amount of navy blue Haviana Sandals, maybe 4 pairs? They were the bargain price of $5.

As for swimwear, the tops come in a wide variety of sizes and from what I saw ranged from a 30 a/b to a 38 c/d.

Something random I saw at this sale were bikini bottoms for $10 featuring "Just Married" in crystals. Perhaps an extra that could be picked up for a bridal shower?

The "steal" of the sale was definitely the Vixen Maillot for $25! This used to sell on Shopbop but it's available here in sand or navy.

At the sale hats were $5 but I only saw one style, a khaki bucket hat. Belts were also $5 but looked uninteresting.

There was some unexpected Inhabit Merch at the sale but a much better selection and similar prices on Gilt Groupe today. What I saw there was a thin tee for $85, Cashmere Sweaters/Cardigans between $125-185.

Full Price List:
Tops $50

Daffy's Designer Deals & Apt Steal

For those of you who don't live in New York, Daffy's is a chain discount retailer similar to TJ Maxx or Loehmann's. Their stores have a lot of good deals; you just have to be patient and willing to dig. I don't have too much Daffy's shopping experience, but I heard good things about the pop-up shop so I decided to check it out.
The inventory was stock you could find at a regular Daffy's, but edited to include cocktail and dress pieces from bigger names like Love Moschino, Jean Paul Gaultier and Tracy Reese. Prices were what you would expect from Daffy's, at least 40% percent off retail. Even at deeply discount prices, some pieces were still $1,000+. The dresses that caught my attention were mainly in the $200 range, but not in my size, no luckily no temptation there - though they are updating their inventory every other day, so I will probably be back before the store wraps up.

If I remember correctly, there were about 3-4 racks of women's wear plus two walls of shoes and bags, and there was a rack of apparel and wall of shoes for the men.
My favorite part of the store was the store display in front - Jeffrey Campbell, whad up! There were a couple Chinese Laundry pairs in there, but it was all about the Jeffrey Campbells. I've been following that line for years; I remember when they didn't even have a website.

If you're still looking for a pair of summer sandals or just want a funky pair of flats, the Daffy's pop up store is definitely worth checking out. All the shoes on that table were all $30 or less! I was this close to buying the orange flats, but decided they were just a little too big.

Oh, and one last note, the staff is super friendly and helpful!

Who: Daffy's Pop-Up Store
What: Discounted men's and women's wear, cocktail dresses, shoes and handbags - inventory updated every other day!
Where: One 7th Ave South near Carmine, 212-337-9967
When: Mon-Sat 11AM - 8PM & Sunday 12noon - 7PM
And in case you haven't heard already, Daffy's is doing a crazy marketing promotion - Enter to win a one-year lease on a fully furnished $7,000-a-month apartment in West Village on 7th Ave at $700 a month. Oh what?! Can I win that please?

To enter, just show up at select Daffy's locations to create a 30-second video explaining why you deserve the apartment. Daffy's will post the best videos online for people to vote, and the winner will be announcer August 16th. For details and locations, visit daffys.com.

Stacked Platform Sandal - Delman

Peacock cuff - dirtystory
Eyeglasses - Alain Milki

Not going to lie, I had the cutest outfit on today. I got compliments from lots of folks at the office and from strangers on the platform waiting for the train! But it was super rainy and I was too tired after work to take a picture. Oh well, another time! I'll recycle it.

So yeah, not enough energy for a real Style Diary post, but my cuff from dirtystory arrived in the mail today (thank you, Michelle!) and I was so excited I had to share! It's lovely and just as beautiful in person as I had expected. I can't wait to wear it out.

Sample Sale Report: Sunner

The Sunner Sample Sale was small and bustling when I stopped by at 6:45 last night with only 6 racks, 2 boxes and 1 table full of merch. The prices are higher than last round but the quality of merch has also approved significantly. Pieces looked much more finished and although there were a few thin lining like silks, there was also a nicer heavier weight pebbled silk on hand and silk charmeuse. Still not in love with the cotton quality.

Prices as Listed:
Long Silk Dresses $65
Long Cotton Dresses $50
Silk Dresses - $60
Cotton Dresses $45
Long Jumpers $65
Short Jumpers $60
Silk Tops $40
Silk Cami's $3o
Cotton Tops/Tunics $30
Sunner Shirt $25
Knits/Sweaters $30
Shorts/Pants $20

The bargain of the sale is the 25 silk dresses in a box, but it was only one short sleeved ruffly style in limited jewel tones.

The other box contained one style of fine gauge cap sleeve wrap sweaters for 30, in Khaki/taupe and black.

The table held fine gauge short sleeve and sweater vests in taupe, deep turq, black and navy.

Some maxi dresses were available in purple hibiscus print silk flutter sleeve or green and purple cotton strapless. Some purple pebble silk tunic/dresses with bronze studs had the Nordstrom ticket still on them marked $334...Perhaps as retailers cut back orders were cut too?

My fave style, pictured left, came in silk, satin and cotton was a ruffle neck halter in both top and short dress form.

Sizes appeared to run small (2-6) for most part and there is no changing area but 1 full length mirror. Worth a stop by if you are in the area or a Sunner fan. Don't go out of your way unless they slash prices further tomorrow.

Who: Sunner
What: Sample sale featuring cotton & silk dresses, cami's and sweaters
Where: 265 West 37th Street, 9th Fl., NYC
When: July 28-29, 2009. 8:30am-7pm
